With the idea that effective and respectful collaboration is always better, Mariëlle van Genderen and Cathelijn Kruunenberg founded Studio&. It was 2012, and the world didn’t quite look as it does today. Yet the desire to reach out and help brands and institutions, designers and artists to bring their stories to life in a relevant and compelling way hasn’t changed.

Cathelijn is crazy on colour, while Mariëlle works wonders with grids. Together, they have 14+ years of design experience at publisher slash design authority Frame, the place where they met, closely examining tactile finishing samples for the magazine’s cover or bowed over bold print proofs. A passion for design, craftsmanship and innovation led them further into the design arena, working with independent designers and interior brands alike.

Ideally, the two women take on entire projects, from initial concept to final execution, in all desired areas from print to web — inviting skilled colleagues depending on the scale of a project. They also count themselves lucky to rely on an extensive network of talented photographers, illustrators, strategists, editors, and web designers, and keep an eye on emerging new talent in and outside Europe.
